Baeyer, Adolph von /ˈbʌɪə, German ˈbaɪɐ/


(1835–1917), German organic chemist; full name Adolph Johann Friedrich Wilhelm von Baeyer. He prepared the first barbiturates and investigated dyes, synthesizing indigo and determining its structural formula. Nobel Prize for Chemistry (1905).
