Bertillon, Alphonse /ˈbɛːtiːjɒ̃, French bɛʀtijɔ̃/


(1853–1914), French criminologist. He devised a system of body measurements for the identification of criminals, which was widely used until superseded by fingerprinting at the beginning of the 20th century.
